Raggedy Ann and Andy Museum
Remember when you lost your heart to this favorite childhood companion. Bring those memories into focus with a visit to the not-for-profit museum dedicated to Raggedy Ann, Andy and all of their friends. Whether you are a grandparent, a baby boomer, or a child o fthe 1970's, you will enjoy reminiscing over the dolls and merchandise that featured Raggedy Ann and her friends. This "Queen of hearts" will surely charm today's children, too.
The 2,00 square foot exhibit traces the history of Johnny Gruelle and the heartwarming doll he created in 1918. His heartbreak at losing his 13 year old daughter, Marcella, that same year changed him forever. "Uncle Johnny" emerged and created favorite children's stories and character dolls. Some of the Gruelle artwork on display has never been shown in public.
Visit the museum located in the heart of Arcola, Johnny's birthplace, and let Raggedy Ann touch your heart with her warmth, kindness, friendship and unconditional love.
