Illinois Amish country offers something for everyone to see and do.  With beautiful shops and downtowns, camping, swimming, lakes, professional golf courses, and fine eateries, just to name a few.  We are sure that you will find activities that will fill your day, weekend, or full week.

The Illinois Amish country also has many great seasonal events.  Arthur has its big Cheese Festival on Labor Day weekend featuring hundreds of craft vendors, live entertainment, and all the cheese you can eat.  Arthur is also home to the CIBR-BBQ KCBS State Championship barbecue competition in October of each year.  50+ competitors come from all over the United States to see who has the best tasting BBQ.   Everyone is invited to come take part in the live entertainment and eat nationally ranked bbq or if you are up to it you can even compete for thousands of dollars in prize money.  Also located in Amish Country is The Great Pumpkin Patch which is open from September to October 31 each year.  The  feature gourds from al over the world and pumpkins of all sizes on a family owned farm with activities for young and old alike.  They have also added a full bakery with fresh baked breads, cakes, and cookies made daily.

Central Illinois and the Amish area are also home to a 18 hole championship golf course and beautiful Lake Shelbyville.  As you enter the central Illinois area you can also visit some of our local wineries.  You could also spend a day in one of the beautiful State parks in and around the Amish country.
